After sell-out runs of BLKDOG, Botis is back with his distinctive brand of hip hop theatre
Underlined with a resistance to change, a lone warrior journeys through time, with every step full of significance as they battle between hope and responsibility.
Warriors in feathered costumes form a wandering community as the stage becomes a pitiless testing ground. Can they deviate from the path a higher power has carved for them?
After the success of BLKDOG, East London raised Botis Seva and his company Far From The Norm cement their distinctive style of hip hop theatre, to a celestial soundtrack of percussion and guttural sounds.
Until We Sleep is co-produced by DanceEast, DE SINGEL, Points Communs – Nouvelle Scène nationale of Cergy-Pontoise / Val d’Oise, Rum för Dans, Sadler’s Wells, schrit_tmacher Festival, Tanz Köln (Cologne), Théâtre de la Ville – Paris, The Joyce Theater and The Lowry. Commissioned by Brighton Dome & Festival and Warwick Arts Centre. Supported by FABRIC and University of East London Dance: Urban Practice. Funded by Arts Council England, The Linbury Trust, Cockayne Grants for the Arts, PRS Foundation’s The Open Fund and The London Community Foundation.

Image description: Six performers dressed in ripped costumes of fur and leather. They all look to be holding imaginary bow and arrows, ready to shoot. Some are stood and some are crouching. There is a light behind them which means that some of them are slightly out of focus.
