Celebrating 25 years of Rayuela, Flores returns with this evocative exploration of creative discovery

This production reimagines flamenco as a universal game – a journey between earth and sky, risk and renewal. The Spanish translation of “hopscotch”, Rayuela is inspired by the traditional children’s game and Julio Cortázar’s novel of the same name, widely regarded as one of the most influential works of Latin American literature. Rayuela offers a powerful reflection on artistic freedom, identity, and the search for meaning, alluding to Cortazar’s protagonist Oliveira, who is always looking for something, but is not sure what.

The piece is performed by three exceptional artists — dancer Marco Flores is accompanied by Alfredo Tejada on vocals and José Tomás on guitar. Encorporating a mixture of contemporary dance, tap dance and flamenco, Rayuela invites audiences into a dynamic, multilayered exploration of flamenco today.
