Throughout June to October 2022, as part of Well Seasoned, Sadler’s Wells presents the digital premiere of brand new film commissions by the UK’s most exciting Black artists working in dance and film.
This Autumn we present new films by Akeim Toussaint Buck, Alethia Antonia, FUBUNATION and House of Absolute as well as films by L’atisse Rhoden and Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist and Artistic Director of Breakin’ Convention, Jonzi D.
All films will be available to watch for a limited period.
Negus
This is an initiation, a story of anointing beckoned to the receiver from within. This film by Akeim Toussaint Buck explores how ascension doesn’t start from any outward action but takes place from our acknowledgement of our greatness.

This film by FUBUNATION speaks to the generational trauma inherited by men from marginalised groups by creating a space where the Black male figure is more visible and honestly represented within its full complexity.
Secrets of the Treaties
This film created by House of Absolute and co-produced by the Philharmonia Orchestra aims to uplift the voices of womxn and marginalized genders in telling stories of a shared oppression, displacement and struggle whilst finding ourselves in a world that so often leaves us ‘Othered’.
AUTOCORRECT
AUTOCORRECT, a film by Jonzi D, features three male dancers from New York, London and Kampala, moving to the cerebral poetry of Saul Williams and textured soundscape by Soweto Kinch.
Dutopia
Dutopia, by L’atisse, tells the story of a young woman who develops a new way of coping with her reality when she encounters challenging experiences at home.

A twisted and raw film by L’atisse, that touches on themes of dysmorphia and the impact that self- expectations can have on health.
